Rapeseed Oil Production Line | Press, Extract, Refine

Rapeseed oil production line from 1-20 T/H pressing to 50-500 TPD extraction and 30-300 TPD refining, built around the seed grade you actually crush. Cleaning, flaking, conditioning, pressing, extraction, degumming, bleaching and deodorisation in one line — canola or high-erucic rapeseed.

A rapeseed oil production line turns seed into crude or refined oil in three stages: preparation (cleaning, flaking, conditioning), extraction (screw pressing at 1-20 T/H, or solvent extraction at 50-500 TPD), and refining (degumming, bleaching, deodorisation at 30-300 TPD). Two seed properties decide the whole design: erucic acid level, which sets food or industrial grade, and glucosinolate level, which sets what the meal is worth.

What Is a Rapeseed Oil Production Line?

Rapeseed looks simple to process and is easy to get wrong at the specification stage. The seed runs 40-45% oil, carries more phospholipid than most oilseeds, and comes in two very different commercial grades. Low-erucic, low-glucosinolate canola makes food oil and feed-grade meal. High-erucic rapeseed makes industrial oil, and its meal has limited feed value.

That distinction is not marketing language, it changes the plant. A line specified for canola will run poorly on high-erucic seed, and a line built for industrial rapeseed will not deliver food-grade oil. Fangchuangjie asks for the seed analysis first, then sizes preparation, pressing, extraction and refining around it.

Process Flow: Four Sections, One Line

1. Cleaning, flaking and conditioning

Rapeseed is small and hard, so flaking rolls and screen settings differ from soybean. Conditioning heats and moistens the flakes to rupture oil cells and deactivate myrosinase, the enzyme that breaks glucosinolates down into compounds that hurt meal quality.

2. Pressing (1-20 T/H)

Single or double screw presses bring cake residual oil to 8-12%. For cold-pressed rapeseed oil the conditioning step is skipped and temperature is held low, which trades yield for a premium product.

3. Solvent extraction (50-500 TPD)

Above roughly 50 TPD the press cake goes to extraction and residual oil drops below 1%. Before choosing this route, confirm where the meal goes: high-glucosinolate rapeseed meal has limited feed use, so the economics of extraction depend on it.

4. Refining (30-300 TPD)

Degumming comes first and cannot be skipped, because rapeseed carries a high phospholipid load that fouls later stages and darkens the oil. Bleaching and deodorisation follow; winterisation is added when the oil must stay clear on the shelf.

Why Buy the Line From Fangchuangjie

  • Specified from your seed analysis — Erucic acid and glucosinolate numbers decide the route before any equipment is quoted, so you do not buy a plant that cannot make the grade you plan to sell.
  • Degumming sized for rapeseed — The refining section is built around rapeseed's phospholipid load instead of a generic flow copied from another oilseed.
  • Cold press or hot press — Both routes can be engineered, so a premium cold-pressed line and a volume crushing line are not an either-or decision.
  • Meal value considered — Extraction is only recommended when the meal has a market, which is a commercial question most suppliers skip.
  • Test run before shipment — The line is assembled and run in our workshop, with test records and video before containers leave.

Applications

  • Canola crushing plant, 50-200 TPD, press plus extraction with continuous refining
  • Cold-pressed bottled oil producer, 1-5 T/H, premium retail grade
  • Cooperative or estate mill selling crude oil and meal locally
  • Industrial rapeseed processor, where high-erucic oil is the product and meal value is secondary

FAQ

Can I make food oil from any rapeseed?

No. Food-grade rapeseed oil requires low erucic acid and low glucosinolate seed, the canola type. High-erucic rapeseed goes to industrial uses such as lubricants and biodiesel. Ask your supplier for the seed analysis before the line is specified, because the two grades are not interchangeable.

Why is degumming non-negotiable for rapeseed?

Rapeseed carries more phospholipid than most oilseeds. Skip degumming and the gum fouls the bleaching and deodorising stages, raises refining loss and leaves the finished oil darker and less stable. It is the first step in the refining section for a reason.

Is pressing enough, or do I need solvent extraction?

Pressing leaves 8-12% oil in the cake. That is fine for a small mill selling cake locally. Above roughly 50 TPD extraction brings residual oil below 1%, but with rapeseed check the meal market first, since high-glucosinolate meal has limited feed use.

What does a cold-pressed rapeseed line need?

Cold pressing skips conditioning and holds temperature low, so yield is lower and the oil sells at a premium. It suits 1-5 T/H lines aimed at retail bottled oil rather than commodity crushing.

Send Your Seed Analysis and We Will Size the Line

Three details are enough for a first proposal: the seed grade, the daily tonnage, and the product you want to sell.

  1. Erucic acid and glucosinolate levels, or the variety name you will crush
  2. Daily seed input in tons, and whether cold press or hot press
  3. Target product: crude oil, once-refined oil, or bottled-grade refined oil
